Behind the magic

The magic of prosthetics doesn’t happen by accident—it happens when artists, engineers, and problem-solvers come together to make the impossible feel real. Meet the people behind Life&Limb Effects.

Jack Firman
(Prosthetic & Makeup Effects Designer)

Jack’s journey into the world of special effects started in Ohio, took a sharp turn to Toronto in the late ‘90s, and came with the classic industry advice:
“Why aren’t you in LA?”

So, he listened. What followed was 15+ years freelancing in some of the best Makeup Effects Workshops in Los Angeles, working alongside legends he had once only read about. From blockbuster creature builds to hyper-realistic prosthetics, Jack honed his craft across film sets, studios, and workshops around the world.

Then, in 2015, a production landed him in Prague. One year later, he made the leap to stay, trading palm trees for spires and setting down roots in a city steeped in creativity. Now, after years in the making, he’s excited to finally open a studio space that brings his experience, passion, and love of practical effects to the heart of Europe.

"I've been incredibly lucky to work with some of the most talented people in the industry—first in the U.S., and now across Europe. Every project, every collaboration, just makes me more excited for what’s next."

Tereza Beck
(Prosthetic & Makeup Effects Producer)

Some people plan their careers. Tereza’s found her.

A series of fortunate (and slightly chaotic) events landed her first gig in Makeup Effects in 2017. What started as a coordinator role quickly evolved into supervising Nick Dudman’s Prague-based workshop—a role she held for seven straight years.

Between workshop seasons, she switched gears, working as a production coordinator on several international projects in Prague, learning from some of the best production teams in the industry. But after wrapping Season 3 of Wheel of Time, something clicked—she missed the fibreglass fumes.

That’s when she and longtime friend and co-worker Jack Firman decided to make the jump and create a workshop of their own—a space built on experience, artistry, and an ever-present thin layer of sculpting clay.

And also, we couldn’t forget our collaborators who we couldn’t do any of this without
